BATTLEFIELD THEOLOGIAN MANIFESTO
Battlefield Theologians are people willing to go to battle on behalf of the Gospel and fight for sound doctrine and teaching, doing so in gentleness and love. They do not allow the culture to dictate how Christians should live or interpret the Bible and they aren’t scared to answer the tough questions. These Christians believe that Scripture is the only source of truth and contains all the answers we need.
YOUR MISSION
(Should You Choose to Accept It)
1. BE SURE
Be sure of your salvation. We are called to know that we are saved and to be filled with the knowledge of God’s will.
(Col. 1:5-8; Hebrews 10:19-22)
2. KNOW WHY
Know why you believe and what you believe. The apostle Paul warns us to be aware of earthly philosophy and deceit. How is this possible if we do not know what the truth of Scripture says or why we believe what we believe? Additionally, when we understand the truth of Scripture and we are able to discern false teachers, wrong philosophical ideology, and speech that uses ambiguity to hide its true message.
(Col. 2:3-4)
3. CLEARLY COMMUNICATE
We are called to clearly communicate the biblical truths with whomever we encounter and wherever we encounter them at. As Paul did in Athens in the marketplace, we must also engage and communicate the truths of Scripture.
(Acts 17:16-18)
4. FORCE-MULTIPLY
Be a force multiplier. Jesus gives us this command in Matthew 28:19-20. We are to go and make disciples and baptize but we must also pay careful attention to the last portion of that verse: “teaching them to do all that I have commanded.” The emphasis is often on evangelism but we often forget the last portion of teaching others the commands of Christ. We must make disciples who are sure, know why, and can clearly communicate the gospel.
The strong shall stand.
The weak will fall by the wayside.
The Enemy is hell-bent to steal, kill, and destroy your faith through calling into question God’s truths, sneaking in philosophies contrary to God’s Word through the back door.
Here, the mission is focused on more than just surviving the Enemy’s attacks but it is about thriving in God’s Word.
But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.
